About Kumaoni Holi:
Kumaoni Holi begins several weeks before the main Holi festival and is celebrated with classical ragas and traditional folk songs. People gather in temples and homes to sing Holi songs called Baithki Holi, accompanied by instruments like harmonium and tabla. Another form called Khadi Holi is performed outdoors where people sing and dance in circles wearing traditional attire. The celebration spreads across towns like Almora, Nainital, and Haldwani. On the final day, people play with colors, apply gulal, and share sweets and festive food.
